Who should take the test?
Any person that has at least 1 year experience in the utility industry and has or may have a safety role; It’s created for the craft worker, utility employee or contractor - the boots on the ground, and the person that has the skill of the trade but wants to validate practical knowledge of safety.
Is it an accredited test?
Yes. The test was developed by a Safety Professional with the input of Utility Safety Professionals, Contractor Safety Professionals, and Safety Employees. The test process was developed through a company that creates and validates accredited tests for industries throughout the United States.
Does the test have to be taken in person or can it be online?
The test must be proctored. It will be given at the end of each training session and proctored by a real person. An online proctor is available as well.
Are there requirements for certification renewal?
Yes. Annual renewal will be automatic when the renewal fee is paid and the renewal questions have been submitted. An abbreviated recertification test will be required every (2) years.
Is there a membership fee?
No. This is a certification, not a membership.
Is there a study guide?
Yes. A study guide is available for purchase.
Will the training teach me what I need to learn to pass the test?
The training is designed to be a refresher of safety topics in the utility industry. Industry experience is expected by everyone taking the test, therefore the training is not designed to help a person pass the test. Topics on the test may be reviewed in the classroom setting.
How long do I have to take the test?
The test taker will have up to 3 hours to complete the test.
Are there voiceover options to have the test read to me?
Yes. Please notify us that you’ll need assistance and we will make the appropriate accommodations.
Are there questions about the craft or just questions about safety?
The test is split into sections: 75 questions will be about safety; 25 will be specific to the craft that is selected by the test taker when registering.
What if I don’t pass the test?
The test can be taken again within (7) days.
Can we host a training session?
If you have 10 or more attendees, we can schedule a training and/or test session at your location. Please contact us to make the arrangements.
Do you offer Group rates?
Please contact us for groups over 10 within the same organization for training discounts.
